Student wins
a rising tide lifts all boats
I received two notifications of publication from two different students from two different classes this week plus a thank you email for a class I recently taught. Teaching does not pay the big bucks but the feeling I get from sharing space for someone else’s creative life? Priceless.
Shout out to Michaux Shaffer, who let me know she just published her Tiny Love Story in the New York Times, adding “This is the first time my work has been published anywhere.” Check out her sweet piece, Two Unexpected Questions here!
Huge congratulations to Holly Hayes on her romantic, music-filled novel, Summer Setlist! She was kind enough to mention us in the acknowledgements too, for workshopping some of her early chapters, which from what I remember, were already very strong.
And here is a DREAM class I’ve dreamed up for this fall, which I’m teaching in person at OLLI/UNCW. More about the class here. Registration opens August 19 at 9 a.m. (yes, these classes fill quickly!)
If you’re here for the Friday Focus & Flow, here ‘tis:
